H12 in. x W18 in.  A miniature cushion of tiny green needles on short, outward-branching growth.  Hardy to Zone 4.

These trees of boreal forests must have cool, moist conditions to thrive.  Young trees and dwarf forms, particularly variegated cultivars, need some shade from strong sun.  Deep, rich loam that drains well is the ideal soil.  Containerized specimens should have a richly organic mix with plenty of coarse sand or grit.
