H6 in. x W6 in. From the Rocky Mountains, this high alpine Boykinia relative has heads of five-petaled, cherry-red flowers in spring, held just above a cushion of leathery, scalloped leaves. Long-lived in a proper place in the rockery or alpine trough, it likes lean, gritty soil or scree, preferring full sun with a cool root run. Plants shipped are from half-quart pots. Hardy to Zone 3.
