H12-18 in. x W8 in. A taller-growing species from California, Nevada and Utah, this also needs moist, sandy soil, where it bears umbels of fragrant, magenta-purple flowers in summer. Hardy to Zone 5.

These native wildflowers enjoy moist, rich loam in the shaded woodland garden or rockery. Some species enter dormancy in summer and must be kept dry and cool; green growth returns with autumn rains.
