This ever-popular alpine is a well-adapted member of the carrot family from the  South American Andes.  Broad, slowly spreading cushions of tiny, notched rosettes have the look and feel of a green plastic doormat. Little yellow-green umbels appear in summer.  Deep, rich grit is essential, which must be kept slightly moist, as this is not a drought-tolerant plant. Full sun to partial shade; protect from hot summer sun. Hardy to Zone 5.
